The automotive industry is experiencing a significant shift towards software-driven development, resulting in the need for efficient and reliable deployment processes. DevOps, a software development approach that emphasizes collaboration and automation between development and operations teams, has emerged as a valuable solution for streamlining software deployment in the automotive sector. This abstract explores the application of DevOps pipeline automation specifically tailored for automotive software deployment, while considering the open-source aspects.
There are a lot of well-established DevOps tools from the Software Industry, which are already utilized by automotive companies, yet the orchestration of all available SW Pipelines, distributed among various departments and the variety of required tools make it still hard to master.
The utilization of open-source components in the DevOps pipeline allows automotive companies to leverage the collective knowledge and expertise of a vast community of developers and enthusiasts. However, while open-source tools provide numerous benefits, there are also challenges associated with their adoption in the automotive industry. Ensuring security, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and managing intellectual property rights can be complex when using open-source components. Therefore, automotive companies must carefully evaluate and address these challenges to harness the full potential of open-source DevOps pipeline automation.
We provide with this talk and overview of the opportunities for the automotive industry, and also show the details of the domain specific aspects, that makes the whole implementation challenging.
