The main goal of Eclipse MicroProfile is to write portable Java microservices that can run on multiple MicroProfile implementations. Like Java Enterprise Edition but this is for cloud native, container packaged applications. However such environments like Kubernetes are highly dynamic and the number of container instances are continuously changing to respond to the load. Beside the fast startup time the smaller memory footprint is also important to reduce the cost. Which brings up the old debate: Can be Java fast enough and efficient? Come to this session and learn how developer can leverage Java (EE) skills and gain extra performance building OS native application using Helidon MicroProfile and GraalVM.
