The new European project “Panorama” (started in April 2019) addresses the challenges of advanced heterogeneous embedded systems that are required for new mobility concepts, e.g. autonomous connected vehicles.
In this talk we will introduce the project and show the interaction between the project participants (with Open Source, commercial and scientific background). They all benefit from the resulting open source environment that is based on open exchange formats like AMALTHEA (maintained and provided by the Eclipse APP4MC project). Collaboration use cases will show the capability of open source for industry related needs in combination with proprietary solutions and research/scientific related approaches.
Within the context of the OpenADx working group the PANORAMA project fits nicely in the intended landscape as it will provide processes and efficient solutions for timing analysis/simulation of embedded systems.
Example of a connection to academic partners and institutes:
The introduction of heterogeneous systems strongly increases the problem space for timing analysis. In the last decade, there has been a divergence between academic research and industrial practice because of the absence of realistic benchmarks. Meanwhile real-world benchmarks are available and the exchange between research and industry is alive and ongoing. In 2016, 2017 and 2019 Bosch provided the problem description for the “Formal Methods for Timing Verification” (FMTV) Challenges as AMALTHEA models. A fundamental cooperation between academic and industry has been built to master the imminent performance challenges within the new EE architectures.
With this approach, we are able to show how open source can enable an entire process from requirements engineering over modeling and data enrichment to simulation and analysis. All these aspects are available in open source and can be enriched by proprietary or in-house tooling according to everyone’s needs.
