Based on our experience, this talk will present how we have integrated Capella with an ecosystem of tools through the Siemens PLM solution Teamcenter and the lessons we have learnt in doing so.
The Eclipse Foundation is the home of Capella, an open-source model-based systems engineering (MBSE) workbench. The current industrial trends related, among others, to digital twins or large scale systems of systems, drive companies to using such MBSE tools. However, these tools have to be part of the overall ecosystem of tools used by such companies (e.g. complex systems manufacturers).
We will focus on how we've been building a commercial product based on open-source solutions such as Capella and, more generally, the Eclipse ecosystem.
We will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of such an open-source based approach.
Beyond technical aspects (build the product, managing its lifecycle with regards to constraints brought by the market and by the eclipse processes, etc.) we will also discuss the organization of the collaboration needed to perform this kind of integration project.
