Eclipse based applications use SWT as widget toolkit. SWT has built-in support for high resolution displays that also includes high resolution graphics.
This session explains
- what needs to be done so that graphics like icons are rendered crisp also on high resolution displays like 4K monitors or Retina displays
- what needs to be considered when designing and drawing icons in Inkscape
I will give tips and tricks I have collected during my endeavour to make the icons of the Eclipse project look nice on high resolution displays.
Objective of the presentation:
I will give an overview what needs to be done so that your Eclipse based application looks good on todays high resolution displays (like the macBook's Retina displays or 4K displays). Special focus will be on what needs to be done so that icons and other graphics are not blurry but crisp.
I will show to to actually design and draw icons in Inkscape. During my endeavour to make the icons of the Eclipse project look nice on high resolution displays I learnt a lot in this area. There are not many Eclipse developers that can provide this knowledge.
