We introduce you to the Yocto (OpenEmbedded) build system and the way Oniro uses it to build for different "flavours" like Linux, Zephyr and other RTOS systems. From an overview of the meta layer collection, we will dive into Oniro specific features like a read-only root filesystem and unified kernel tree over a range of supported boards.
In the last part, we will run through the needed steps to enable a new board for Oniro.
Objective of the presentation:
In this session, we explore the technical decisions made to ensure Oniro leverages the best in class build tools from Yocto (OpenEmbedded) to enable the creation of distributions on the widest possible range of diverse devices sets, of all shapes and sizes. The goal is to offer an easy way to plug your boards and chipsets into our ever-expanding ecosystem, while benefit from the common base of Oniro features.
