Since Neon.2 all artifacts from the Eclipse Project are published to Maven Central.
Some may say: why the effort?
Others have already been doing the same for their project for some time.
Yet others are watching from the sidelines where all this might be heading.
Fact is: some artifacts from the Eclipse community are being consumed outside
our comfort zone that is based on OSGi and equipped with p2.
The presentation will outline some of the pitfalls that adopters of our artifacts
will run into when they walk this road.
The current status will be reported, how some of those issues are addressed in the
approach to publish Eclipse Project artifacts to Maven Central.
I will demonstrate the central role which the CBI aggregator plays in this game.
I will conclude by outlining a few open issues and possible directions for
the future of this approach, the key question being: how much do we care about
adopters outside the OSGi/p2 world?
