In this presentation, we would like to share with our audience how our bet on open source code helps us connect to a community of practitioners, gives visibility to our solution to a technical community and facilitates its adoption. We will discuss:
In this talk, I will show our initial findings and the methodology for answering the long-standing question if adhering to the best practices of modilarity in OSGi has a proveably positive impact on the quality and sustainability of software development. We discuss several software quality metrics that we identified as good indicators for this research and how OSGi can have an impact on them. We then present our initial findings on the impact of OSGi on real-world software projects that we determined by a broad empirical study of code available from open source projects.
Since 2014, the Eclipse Foundation has been invited to join European Research projects to assist them in dissemination, community building, and OSS best practices. Today, we are directly involved in several EU projects and are in touch with several others who are interested in joining our dynamic community. Some of these projects are just starting, others are in the middle of their timeline and one is finishing in December 2019. Each of these projects has or will have an Eclipse project created on our forge.
The Eclipse Foundation is a partner in many publicly funded Research projects. It helps consortia members to successfully create, publish, and sustain their code as open source software making the results of the research projects available for commercial or public exploitation.
