Application of EMF Modelling for Automated Data Collection in Synchrotron Science Experiments
Diamond Light Source Ltd is the UK national synchrotron facility providing X-ray photon source for scientific and industrial research and development. Scientists from across the world use this X-ray source to shoot photon onto tiny samples and collect diffraction pattern coming off the sample, from which they can deduce the structure and/or compositions of the sample. This talk is to describe the way we apply EMF modelling in designing an automated data acquisition software for long duration experiments, in particular, focusing on the customisability of the EMF model with respect to the model properties, view, and validation. We will therefore demonstrate the benefits we gained from this generic modelling framework in term of enabling quick response to late change request, and constantly evolving science research requirements.
