Filling up the Dance Card – EclipseCon 2016 Reston VA

I can tell EclipseCon is getting close by the level of my panic. Five weeks to go. And it’s getting pretty tight.

I have a whole bunch of things I want to demo and hopefully get the community excited about. The Preview of the Arduino C++ IDE, a showcase for the new build and launch systems I’ve been working on, is nearing it’s end on the Mars stream and it’s time to get it working on Neon. I have a talk on that on the Tuesday entitled “Build Arduino Apps like a Pro”. It is a really cool application of all the great work we’ve done on the CDT over the years and I have some cool places I want to take it.

Coming to an EclipseCon 2016 near you: Science!

I’m pretty psyched about EclipseCon 2016 in North America, which is happening March 7-10 in Reston VA (more info on the conference page). It was my distinct privilege to serve on the Program Committee this year, especially with such an awesome group of committee members. We worked really hard to put together an awesome program, but what has me most excited this year is all the Science!

Looking forward to the Java 9 Track at EclipseCon

It was a great pleasure to have a chance to serve on this year’s EclipseCon Program Committee. As Java SE 8 adoption took place at “record-setting pace” during the past year, I was glad to see the EclipseCon team set their sights ahead, towards JDK 9, with its own track at EclipseCon. If you’d just like to take a peek at the changes being considered, developed and integrated into the JDK 9 Project, you can check out its web site in the OpenJDK community, and try out the Early Access builds.

Introducing Community Voting

The Program Committee is very proud to introduce community voting for EclipseCon North America 2016!

This means that you now have a say in the upcoming program. There are two ways the community votes influence the program. First, the community votes will help the program committee when selecting the best sessions for the program. Second, the top-rated sessions will be automatically accepted into the program on the following basis:

Call for Papers is open!

The Program Committee is very proud to introduce community voting for EclipseCon North America 2016!

The call for papers for EclipseCon North America is now open. It is the first step toward what ought to be another great EclipseCon. As you may know, I am leading the program committee this year as program chair. We worked hard to make the best call for papers we possibly could. We designed the tracks carefully so that anyone near or far from the core Eclipse community will feel welcome to submit a speaking proposal about all the inspiring, innovative and interesting stuff they are doing in or with Eclipse.
