The Science Working Group (SWG) is an active, friendly group working on open source software in scientific domains. From Monday, June 19 through Thursday, June 22, we have something planned every day during EclipseCon France!
Monday, June 19 — Airbus SWG Meeting
Members of the Science Working Group will be having a face-to-face meeting at the Airbus offices. Lunch will be included, and we are hoping to include a visit to one of the assembly lines.
Tuesday, June 20 — Unconference
The Unconference will be at our secondary Toulouse venue, EPITECH.
9:00 - 9:30 – Welcome and Agenda Planning
Meet the group, greet old friends, and help plan the afternoon's topics.
9:30 - 12:30 – Eclipse January Workshop
The Eclipse January project provides standardized numerical arrays in Java that are similar to the popular numpy library. This library is used extensively at Diamond Light Source for managing the data, lazy loading, python integration, and plotting as part of DAWNSci. Eclipse January is also used for IoT applications such as edge processing.
This workshop will provide an introduction to the API and key features such as slicing and lazy loading of data, plus computational functionality. Beginners are welcome. The workshop will be delivered by the project lead Peter Chang of Diamond Light Source alongside committer Tracy Miranda of Kichwa Coders.
To register for the workshop, please complete this Google form.
14:00 - 17:30
As in previous years, after lunch we will meet to share project updates, work on code sprints, and discuss the topics most important to those in the room.
- Project and member updates
- Plotting/visualisation discussions
- Any science related topic proposed on the day!
Wednesday & Thursday, June 21-22 — EclipseCon France
Several Science talks are featured in the main conference, in the "Science, Data Analytics, Data Science" track. See the full list here.
