Theia is the new platform at Eclipse for building cloud and desktop tools. It's a truely open-source, vendor neutral IDE framework already adopted by Google, SAP, arm, Alibaba, RedHat, IBM, Ericsson, TypeFox and many others.
This session reflects on the past and present as well as the future of the project and the IDE landscape in general. I will discuss the scope of the project and how that helped in growing a very active and diverse community. Some big news, such as the adoption by one of most used IDEs in the world as well as the dates and details for the upcoming 1.0 release will be revealed. Furthermore, I will discuss the current state of the developer tools industry, the new cloud development orking group and the importance of Theia's vendor neutrality.
This session is for you, if you are building developer or engineering tools and plug-ins and want to move them to a modern technology or you are generally interested in the state of one of the most promising new Eclipse projects.
