Safety standards like ISO 26262 requires "Confidence in the use of SW tools". But how this could be applied to your daily use of Tools and IDEs?

Within the talk we present the requirements from safety standards and explain what this means for Tool developers and Tool users. Tools need to be classified and if they are critical they need to be qualified in order to use them with confidence to avoid safety critical incidents caused by Tool failures.

Furthermore we present a solution how Eclipse-based Tools and Tools from other eco-systems can be qualified by building Qualification Kits with all the required documentation. And finally, we would like to discuss the usage of the Tools with the required confidence in the context of IDEs and CI pipelines.

Objective of the presentation:
Introduce attendies to the Safety domain, explain why the Tool Qualification is important and discuss the practices that should be applied during daily usage of Tools and IDEs.
