Industry 4.0 is a software revolution. In this community session, we will guide you through the process of setting up a basic Industry 4.0 infastructure based on the Asset Administration Shell. The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) is a digital representative of any asset relevant for production. It represents for example a worker, a resource, a process, a device, or an order. The AAS defines a unified interface for accessing data and services that are associated with the real-world asset. Since assets are of very different kinds, and provide different kinds of information and services, the AAS consists of sub-models that describe all asset specific aspects, such as a digital nameplate, capabilities, and offered services. Every sub model focuses on one aspect, and with Eclipse BaSyx, every sub model can be distributed to a different location. This way, raw input data can, for example, be preprocessed close to the manufacturing process, while sub models that connect to suppliers for spare parts are deployed into the IT. In this community day session, we will show you how to setup an Asset Administration Shell infrastructure, how to configure sub models, and how to implement dynamic sub models with the Eclipse BaSyx SDK. We speak about ongoing developments, our experiences with digitizing manufacturing processes, and invite you to participate in our discussions.
