Eclipse CDT is the largest open source solution that is taken as the basis for many vendor-specific IDEs. Despite the fact that the new cloud-oriented solutions look very promising it will took time for them to gain the maturity level that can be comparable with the current features of Eclipse CDT
But does the Eclipse CDT team aware of new and cool IDE technologies like LSP and DAP? Yes, sure. And also about great opportunities that Eclipse Platform gives us to create highly modular and customizable basis for C/C++ IDEs. Furthermore, the combination of LSP scalability with Eclipse Platform configurability gives even more value for Embedded Development.
At the same time, we cannot carry all the bagage collected for all that years and need to drop support for a number of bundles. And, we are actively using new capabilities of the Eclipse Platform and other Eclipse projects to provide better API and implementation.
The deep knowledge of underlying technologies is not required to attend this session as we will go through the building blocks of CDT, with a quick stopovers to discuss selected items in more details. Also, we will talk about how the Eclipse CDT project is organized and how to set things up to start your contribution.
