EclipseCon 2020 as a Virtual Event
For over 15 years, EclipseCons have been held as face-to-face events for the Eclipse community, attended by committers, adopters, and contributors. EclipseCon has been the primary gathering place for the ecosystem, offering a unique opportunity for our diverse communities to share ideas, to learn from each other, and to celebrate our collective accomplishments and successes.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty of what the situation will be in October, we have decided to present EclipseCon 2020 as a virtual event. Making this choice now gives all of us the certainty we need to plan for the best possible experience, while caring for the health and safety of our community.
We will share detailed information about the conference format soon. But one aspect remains the same – the goal of EclipseCon 2020 is to present content that will educate and inspire attendees, and we need the help of our speakers to create a great program!
Program Committee
We are proud to say that the sessions at EclipseCon are chosen by an independent program committee made up of volunteers from the Eclipse community. To learn more about the committee, visit the About the Program Committee page.
Important Notes
The Submission FAQs page has lots of detail. Please read it if you are new to the conference, or have questions about submitting.
You must have an eclipse.org account before you can submit a talk. See this section of the Submissions FAQs for more information.
We strongly encourage the actual speakers to submit their own proposals. We want speakers who are engaged with the community and really want to speak at the conference. Sometimes a third party will submit on a speaker’s behalf. The program committee will review all proposals, but proposals submitted by third parties will be given lower priority.
Talks will be 30 minutes long, and include an interactive (Q&A) component as part of the 30 minutes. Details on talk format will be sent to accepted speakers after the program is chosen.
