Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) provides extensive tooling around Java EE 5 and now 6 with enhanced support for developing, debugging, and deploying to Oracle's WebLogic and GlassFish application servers. OEPE is a set of plugins that extend the Helios release of Eclipse and demonstrate the successful collaboration between open source and closed source development. The OEPE team leads, contributes, and extends many of the WTP's projects.

In this session we will highlight Java EE 6 development with OEPE. Starting from a simple web application to creating Facelets-based Java Server Faces applications, JAX-RS compliant RESTful Web services, retrieving entities from database using Java Persistence API and lot more. We'll highlight innovative functionality such as AppXray and Sapphire and demonstrate how these add value to the OEPE usage as well as its development and maintenance.

Doug Clarke is a lead of the EclipseLink project and member of the RT PMC and Architecture Council within the Eclipse Eco-system. Doug also functions as the director or Product Management for Oracle Fusion Middleware with responsibility for Oracle TopLink.
