Introduction to new OSGi based gateway platform for ubiquitous healthcare

Ubiquitous health offers a wide range of solutions in patient tele-monitoring where scenarios are built up with several device combinations for vital signal acquisition.
However, there is still a lack of development in areas such as standardization of the PHDs communication interface, integration into Electronic Healthcare Record systems or incorporation in ambient-intelligent scenarios.

In this work, we developed a new OSGi based clinical gateway platform which is collect bio signals from PHD and transmit to the service(i.e., Electronic Medical Record system) in u-healthcare environment.
The principle goals of our platform are as follows.
1. Connectivity : Home and medical devices and services are published and utilized using various communication technologies.
2. Abstraction : PHD functionality is abstracted as services, which can be discovered and utilized by other devices or services within the network.
3. Device and Service Management : Devices and services self-adapt and extend the functionality they provide beyond that which they were initially designed to do. Errors are detected and automatically rectified as and when they occur.
4. Standardization : Support PHD interoperability and medical informatics standards(ISO/IEEE11073, HL7).
