The 4.0 SDK ships with a compat layer which provides people the possibility to run their 3.x bundles in the 4.0 SDK. What would happen if you flip things and use the e4 style of programming (using POJOs, Dependency Injection and some Annotations) in a 3.x world. This talk presents a so called forward compat-layer which allows people to write \"native\" e4 components (=components without the need of the compat layer) and run them in Eclipse >= 3.6 (= singlesourcing for e4 and 3.x). The talk assumes that people have basic understanding of the e4 programming model e.g. by having attended talk https://www.eclipsecon.org/submissions/ese2010/view_talk.php?id=1676

Tom is founder and owner of a software company named BestSolution.at which provides development and consultant services in the Java space from J2EE to Eclipse RCP and the new e4-Platform. He\'s committer on various different Eclipse projects (Platform UI, Nebula, UFaceKit) and part of the e4 development team which is working on the next generation of the Eclipse Platform.
