The Java EE Servlet model provides the backbone of Web based applications written in Java.
With the release of the OSGi enterprise there is a Web application specification which provides a seamless experience for deploying existing and new Web applications to Servlet containers operating on the OSGi service platform as well as means of taking a traditional Web archive and componentizing it into several classic bundles.
In this session we would give a brief overview of the specification focusing on the migration tricks as well as sharing more details about:

  • How OSGi Web container is integrated
  • Available OSGi specific features which can be used
  • How to modify the Web application in order to benefit from OSGi
  • Challenges that we overcome
  • Automatic tools
  • Common mistakes

Diyan Yordanov is a Senior Software Engineer and Architect at SAP Labs Bulgaria. He has been working in the area of Web container in SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java. He is member of Java Servlet 3.0 (JSR 315) Expert Group.
