Call for Participation

Hendrik Hoefer
Program Chair
There are many ways to participate in Eclipse Summit Europe 2009. The easiest way is to
register and join us
in Ludwigsburg to attend technical sessions, talk with colleagues,
and use the hallways and social events to teach and learn about Eclipse.
Technical Sessions: Submissions for technical sessions are now closed. The Program Committee will consider late submissions on a
case-by-case basis while the program is still being selected. To submit a late proposal, please send email
using this link.
Posters: We encourage you to submit a poster for display during the Wednesday evening Poster Reception. Please use
the submission system to submit your poster proposal; more information about posters is on the
guidelines wiki page. Posters will be chosen after September 14.
Birds of a Feather Sessions: BoFs will be organized on-site; please visit the registration desk at
the conference for more information.
Important Dates
- August 18, 2009 - Submissions close
- August 25, 2009 - Tutorials, Symposia, Long Talks, and Short Talks chosen
- September 11, 2009 - session titles, author's names, etc. are extracted from the submission
system for typesetting in the printed program. If you want your name spelled correctly
in the printed program, make sure that it is correct in the submission system before
September 11.
- September 14, 2009 - Submissions open for posters
Submission Guidelines
The
guidelines are
on the Eclipse wiki - head over there for all the details.
You are responsible for your submission being correct: the correct
type, the correct
category,
the correct abstract, etc. so we suggest you take just a couple of minutes to read all the instructions. Thanks.
What Else Is There to Know?
Speaker Agreements
If your proposal is accepted, you will be asked to sign (electronically) a speaker
agreement (wherein you agree to speak – click
here
to see a sample agreement). All presenters must register for the conference, and you'll
receive specific registration instructions after your talk is accepted.
Presentation Materials
After you (and your co-authors) have registered and made hotel reservations, you'll need
to start preparing your presentation materials (PDFs of the slide decks, or better yet,
skip the slideware and include a
well-written paper with a zip of working example code) and (optionally) upload them
to the submission system. This upload will automatically make the
material available on the ESE 2009 website before, during, and
after the conference.
Providing the materials in advance has a number of advantages:
- Advance materials (complete slides, papers, examples, etc.) are a better advertisement for
your presentation than any short abstract could be. The attendees, after all, are here
to listen to you, not to read your slides.
- Advance materials allow people to follow along and make notes.
- Advance materials allow the audience to pre-select sessions, and thus you, the speaker, can assume
that everyone who attends your talk is interested and knowledgable. You can skip the introductory
materials and get to "the good stuff" more quickly.
Speaker Registrations
All speakers
must register for the conference. Specific registration instructions are sent to each accepted speaker.
