The Eclipse Modeling Project has played an important role in demonstrating the pragmatic benefit of model driven development as an integral aspect of software development in general. Its technology is driven by a wide range of organizations, large and small, commercial and academic, as well as by passionate and dedicated individuals. It is arguably Eclipse's most diverse project and is most certainly the fastest growing. In previous years, the Modeling Symposium at Eclipse Summit Europe attracted a broad spectrum of attendees interested in sharing their ideas and in learning about the activities of others in the community. Without a doubt, this year's symposium will continue that momentum with another great opportunity to meet and greet and to reflect on the past as well as to plan for the future.

The presentations included MoDisco.

Ed Merks leads the Eclipse Modeling Framework project as well as the top-level Eclipse Modeling project. He is a coauthor of the authoritative book "EMF: Eclipse Modeling Framework" which is published as a second expanded edition. He is an elected member of the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors and has been recognized by the Eclipse Community Awards as Top Ambassador, Top Committer, and Top Newcomer Evangelist. He spent 16 years at IBM, achieving the level of Senior Technical Staff Member after completing his Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University. He recently founded his own consulting company, Macro Modeling, which works in partnership with itemis AG.
