In this talk we discuss current shortcomings of technologies like EMF and standards like UML, and show how these can be dealt with using research approaches in the area of aspect-oriented modeling (AOM), allowing e.g. to enrich models with orthogonal sets of information pertaining to different concerns. Several techniques and implementations based on Eclipse products and projects (such as EMF extensibility, secondary models such as EMF GenModel's, the aspect-oriented configuration profiles of the Eclipse technology project Java Workflow Tooling) will be presented. An outlook about current standardization approaches in this area by the OMG completes this session.

Florian Lautenbacher is working as a researcher at the University of Augsburg, Germany since 2005. His interests are in applying semantic technologies to model-driven software development, in particular to workflow and business process technologies as well as service-oriented architectures. Florian is project co-lead of the Eclipse Technology project Java Workflow Tooling (JWT) which started in 2007.

Since 2006, Marc Dutoo heads the R&D department at Open Wide, a leading French Open Source Software integrator. Working on projects mixing SOA, BPM and ECM, his contributions to the community include co-leading Eclipse Java Workflow Tooling (JWT), a Galileo Freeshman project, founding OW2 Scarbo, a service oriented BPM solution, but also contributing features to the PEtALS ESB or the Talend ETL. Marc is also a regular speaker at similar conferences (Linux Solutions, Open World Forum, SOA BPM), a teacher, a trainer, a consultant, a FOSS advocate and an innovation lover.
