Scott Lewis

The Eclipse Communication Framework (ECF) is a framework for developers to build communications into their tools and applications. It is important to underscore that ECF provides a set of high-level abstractions, rather than yet another messaging API to support communications components. Since the start of the ECF project, different development team tools have emerged, such as IM, Chat, File Sharing, DocShare and Cola (that implements real-time shared editing), Share Code and others, all integrated into Eclipse. In this short talk you will have the opportunity to take an insider's look at the ECF project and other ECF related tools, as well as discuss the ECF providers, ECF API and New and Noteworthy.

Marcelo Mayworm works with software development, engaged in software architecture and innovative solutions. He has been working for many government-owned, international organization, financial, energy and pharmaceutical corporations. He holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Rio de Janeiro Federal University in Brazil. He is committer on the Eclipse Communication Framework and his research interests are distributed systems, information retrieval and software architecture.

Scott Lewis is the architect and project lead for the Eclipse Communication Framework as well as an active member of the committer community...having previously served on the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors. Before becoming entangled with the Eclipse Foundation and all things Eclipse, he was known to enjoy working on distributed systems R&D, real-time collaboration, and communications applications at his own startup, as well as at BEA Systems, Intel Architecture Labs, and AT&T Bell Laboratories. Many moons ago he received a Ph.D in social psychology from the University of Oregon.
