Artus is an Eclipse-based tool suite developed by Robert Bosch GmbH. It is used for the development in the embedded automotive powertrain domain, especially for Engine Control applications. The complexity of these ECU (Electronic Control Unit) software products increased heavily during the last decade.Therefore, Bosch adopted the Component Based Software Engineering (CBSE) by developing the component technology BlueArX which addresses the specific non-functional requirements of the automotive domain like hard real-time constraints, ressources (memory, runtime), high variability and distributed development. Artus supports the BlueArX technology throughout the developing process according to the V cycle. Several process steps are addressed in the tool by different use cases like Architecture Development, Component Design, Function Design, Software Integration. The feature list comprises edit features, component validation (e.g. interface checks), analyse features (e.g. interface dependencies), visualisation (e.g. graphical representation of the software architecture). Markus Kopf holds a Master degree in Computer Science from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He works at itemis in Pforzheim. His focus lies on Eclipse-Technology, automated Toolchains and Software-Design as well as Model-Driven Software Deveopment. Markus is an experienced enthusiast for the application and customization of the eclipse-based Jazz platform.

Christof Hammel, born in Schw.Gmünd, Germany, on Nov 25, 1968, received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Universität Stuttgart. From 1990 to 1995, he worked for ARADEX GmbH, developing hardware and software solutions for electrical drivetrain and controller systems. In 1995, he joined Robert Bosch GmbH, system development for Common Rail diesel injections systems. In 2000, he spent one year in the development of car multimedia systems. From 2001 to 2006, he was chief architect for the embedded ECU (Electronic Control Unit) software for diesel engine control systems. Since 2007 he is responsible for embedded software technologies at Diesel-Gasoline-Systems (DGS-EC) at Robert Bosch GmbH. He was significantly involved in the development of the Component Technology BlueArX within Bosch. His professional interests include embedded systems, software architecture and component-oriented software development. Christof Hammel holds several patents in the area of automotive drivetrain applications and published papers on SAE´s World Congress, VDI Kongress and BoCSE conferences.
