The Jazz technology platform and IBM Rational Team Concert are Eclipse based products developed by the team that was previously involved in the development of Eclipse. The development is spread over eight sites and multiple time zones and done using agile practices based on the "Eclipse Way" process which evolved from the development of the Eclipse platform. The goal of Jazz is to provide a platform that facilitates team collaboration and coordination throughout the software lifecycle. For almost two years IBM has been using Jazz and IBM Rational Team Concert to develop the product itself. This talk sheds light into how this is done and discusses best practices for using IBM Rational Team Concert in a globally distributed agile team.

André Weinand is a senior developer with the IBM Rational Research Lab in Zurich, Switzerland since 1997. He is a team lead and component owner on IBM's Jazz project, the Eclipse based framework for collaborative software development. Before joining Jazz he played an active role in the Eclipse project since its inception, working on JFace, Compare, JDT UI, and the effort to bring Eclipse to Mac OS X. André has been an object-oriented developer, consultant, and architect for more than two decades, working on a wide variety of projects, large and small. Prior to joining IBM he was a member of Taligent's "People, Places, and Things" team. He is one of the principal designers and implementors of ET++, the first portable C++ application framework. André has a doctorate in computer science from the University of Zurich.
