Aspect Weaving for OSGi

Heiko Seeberger, Martin Lippert (GoPivotal, Inc. )

Technology Talks · Short

Equinox Aspects is an incubator project of Equinox that provides an extension to the Equinox OSGi implementation. This extension allows you to combine aspect-oriented programming with OSGi techniques in a seamless way. Aspects can be modularized via bundles while the runtime takes care of weaving the aspects where appropriate at load-time. This presentation explains the idea behind Equinox Aspects and how it can be applied for general OSGi projects using a number of live examples and demos. The presentation covers new features as well as short experience reports.

Heiko Seeberger is WeigleWilczek’s technical director. His main areas of expertise include the development of enterprise applications using OSGi, Eclipse RCP, Spring, AspectJ and Java EE. Heiko brings more than ten years of professional experience in IT consulting and software development to the Eclipse Training Alliance, actively contributes to Eclipse projects and regularly shares his expertise in articles and talks.

Martin works as consultant and coach for it-agile and is committer on the Equinox incubator project where he works on aspect weaving for OSGi. Ask him about everything related to OSGi and Equinox, how to use Equinox for large business applications or the combination with Spring Dynamic Modules.
