The electrics and electronics (e/e) in today's vehicles have become more and more complex
as a result of increasing safety, comfort, in-vehicle entertainment and environmental requirements.
Latest cars in the premium segment feature as many as 60 networked control
modules. A trend towards integrating more functions into a smaller number of control modules
has now emerged, which opens a bigger design space by shifting the complexity from
networking into the control modules themselves.
PREEvision is an innovative CASE-tool for the model-based concept development, construction
and evaluation of electrics/electronics architectures in motor vehicles. The CASE tool
can be used to cope with the e/e complexity of future cars. PREEvision is completely developed
within and based on the Eclipse platform. It utilizes the aquintos MOF driven metadata
platform and the aquintos model-2-model transformation technology.
Daniel Gebauer (Dipl.-Ing., University of Karlsruhe (TH)) is a software engineer at aquintos GmbH in Karlsruhe. He is a member
of the development team for PREEvision and is also involved in the engineering of advanced concepts and core technologies for
the next generations of PREEvision. Currently, he is working on his PhD where he is enganged with a method for model-based
evaluation and comparison of automotive Electric/Electronic Architectures.
