The Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project is a powerful open source reporting
framework that is part of the Eclipse initiative. Using BIRT, you can incorporate reports into your
applications without the need for time-consuming custom code, or you can build on and extend
BIRT to provide valuable reporting services for your applications and products. This presentation
introduces the project and its goals, looks at the technology, and explores case studies of how
companies have used BIRT to incorporate reporting in their applications.
Topics covered include:
- BIRT Overview, Goals and Architecture
- Key BIRT Features and Capabilities
- Project Releases and Roadmap
- Consumer Stories: Real World BIRT Case Studies
The session includes a demonstration of BIRT in action, and provides a solid introduction and
foundation for those who are new to BIRT.
