BoFs

BoFs (Birds of a Feather sessions) will take place the evening of Wednesday, October 10, after the Poster Reception. There are 5 BoF rooms and 2 time slots - 19:30-20:45 and 20:45-22:00. The BoFs are a chance for ESE attendees to meet informally to discuss a shared area of interest without any pre-planned agenda.

Some BoF slots will be scheduled in advance and some slots will not be allocated until the day of the conference.

If you would like to reserve space for a BoF, please email summit@eclipse.org.

New Committers BoF

This BoF is open to new committers who would like to learn more about how to contribute and become part of the Eclipse community as well as other committers and contributors who have ideas on how to recruit new committers and how to encourage participation in the Eclipse community.

There will be an iPhone draw for one lucky to-be committer, kindly provided by BEA.

Naci Dai

Chief scientist and founder of eteration, a.s., Naci Dai is a member of the WTP project management committee. Naci leads WTP’s JST subproject and leads the Open Source Lomboz project, which was a part of the initial code contributed to WTP to seed the project.

STP BoF

The mission of the SOA Tools Platform (STP) project is to build frameworks and exemplary extensible tools that enable the design, configuration, assembly, deployment, monitoring, and management of software designed around a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). STP leverages the Service Component Architecture specification (SCA) as its model. STP is a natural complement to other Eclipse projects, such as the Web Tools Platform and Data Tools Platform, and reuses, as appropriate, components from these projects. If you are an STP committer or have an interest in the STP project, we welcome you to the STP BoF.

Oisin Hurley

Oisin Hurley is the STP PMC Lead and a Distinguished Engineer at IONA Technologies.

Equinox BoF

Interested in OSGi? Running Eclipse on a server? Provisioning? Come to the Equinox BoF and share your experiences, usecases, code and ideas with members of the Equinox team and the broader community.

Jeff McAffer

Jeff McAffer leads the Eclipse Equinox OSGi, RCP and Orbit teams and is a Senior Technical Staff Member with IBM Rational. He is one of the architects of the Eclipse Platform and a co-author of The Eclipse Rich Client Platform (Addison-Wesley). He is a member of the Eclipse Project PMC, the Tools project PMC and the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors. Jeff is currently interested in all aspects of Eclipse componentry, from developing and building bundles to deploying, installing and ultimately running them. Previous lives included work in distributed/parallel OO computing (Server Smalltalk, massively parallel Smalltalk) as well as expert systems, meta-level architectures and a PhD at the University of Tokyo.

CDT BoF

The CDT project provides a C/C++ IDE based on the Eclipse Platform. This BOF gives us the opportunity for members of the CDT community attending ESE to get together and talk about anything CDT. Everyone is welcome.

Doug Schaefer

Doug Schaefer is the Eclipse CDT Project Lead and a Senior Software Developer at QNX Software Systems. He has spent over 12 years in the tools industry and is now focused on cross-platform development with the CDT project and the QNX Momentics IDE.

WTP BoF

The BoF is open for committers and adopters who would like to discuss the new features and possible contributions in WTP 3.0 Ganymede. The BoF is also a chance for an informal meeting between WTP committers and adopters.

Kaloyan Raev

Kaloyan Raev is a committer in the Eclipse Web Tools Platform project. He is working for SAP Labs Bulgaria, in the SAP NetWeaver division. After years of working on core modules of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, he is now aligning the Java EE toolset of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio with the Eclipse WTP project.
