Cédric Brun
In 2006 many people expressed the vital need of comparison and merge tools upon
models, two companies gathered contributions and resources to create a new component in
the modeling world : EMF Compare. One year later this component is part of the Modeling
project, its integrated with the Eclipse compare framework and supports team collaboration,
the provided API is extensible, stable and the users feedback is really positive.
Many research engineers are working on model comparison algorithms, merge and model evolutions,
there is not an unique and efficient way to compare models, how this component deal
with that? What can it brings right now for people using Model driven approaches and/or
Domain Specific Languages? This project will be part of the 2008 simultaneous release, what
features can we expect then?
Cédric Brun is a Research Engineer at Obeo and Project Lead of the EMF compare project in Eclipse. In charge of the Acceleo
community, he also works on software evolution, re-engineering and cartography of legacy systems through model driven processes.
He has graduated both the Polytech engineering school and a research Master at the University of Nantes, and has specialized
himself in software engineering and model driven engineering. Prior to his current jobs, he was already an active contributor
to open source and worked in Guangzhou on a global video conference solution for the Chinese Education and Research Network
(CERNET).
