In the new g-Eclipse project, supported by the EU, six partners from five European countries will develop Eclipse tools to access the power of Grid computing infrastructures. These tools will provide a more intuitive and simpler way for users to enter the world of scientific Grid computing than it is possible now. In this talk we give a short overview over Grid technologies, middlewares and existing tools and discuss our approach of an integrated Eclipse tooling for Grid computing.

Harald Kornmayer works as a computer scientist in the Institut for Scientific Computing at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. He joined different European and national projects in the field of Grid computing. He led the workpackage "Grid development tools" in the CrossGrid project and is currently a member of the D-Grid steering committee. He is leading the g-Eclipse project as the scientific coordinator.

Markus Knauer works as Eclipse developer and consultant at Innoopract Information Systems. There he is involved in the development of the Yoxos-On-Demand Eclipse Distribution and is working on multiple projects developing Eclipse-based SDKs. Within the g-Eclipse project he is responsible for the architecture.
