The new Java EE 5 standard includes a specification for vendor neutral Object-Relational Mapping: the Java Persistence API (JPA). The Dali JPA Tools project brings support for the new JPA specification to Eclipse. This session will give a quick introduction to the Dali tools and how they can be used to build both Java SE and EE applications with JPA.

Shaun Smith is co-lead of the Eclipse Dali JPA Tools Project and a product manager for Oracle TopLink. TopLink is the basis of the open source 'TopLink Essentials', the JPA component of the EJB 3.0 Reference Implementation for Java EE 5. Shaun's been building systems using object-relational mapping technologies for almost a decade in both Java and Smalltalk in the banking, telecommunications, and energy industries.
