This talk presents the necessary essentials to implement complete IoT projects.

We will help you to get started with programming mobile apps that communicate with embedded devices connected to the internet. For this, we introduce an IoT platform that is completely based on open source hardware and software: An Arduino board, a Rasberry Pi running a Mosquitto MQTT Broker, and an Eclipse Scout client working on the desktop, on tablet devices and mobile phones.

With this setup it is easy to build a mobile application to switch a relay to high power devices such as lights, motors, doors and so on. And at the same time, sensory input from the Arduino board is displayed in the mobile application.

This talks steps the participant through all necessary components and includes a live demo of the complete setup.
