Creating an Open Approach to Take the Smart Home to the Mass Market

In order to move the connected home to the next level, over the last three years Deutsche Telekom has built an open connected home platform, under the name QIVICON. It was successfully launched in Germany in late 2013 and is now available internationally as a white label solution, and a foundation for multiple connected home initiatives. QIVICON is based on the Eclipse SmartHome project.

In this session, Martin Hund will talk about the dynamics of creating an open source platform and the productization of the platform for the mass market. He will also show how the open approach makes it easier to address the wide range of home automation devices and creates a community of developers who add value to the platform.

This talk is scheduled for 9:00 - 9:35 in the FMZ Präsentationsraum as part of the IoT Day.
