Eclipse Contributor Hackathon
Have you been using and consuming Eclipse technology for years, but never taken that next step to contribute changes back to the projects you are using? Taking that first step can be daunting, as you need to wade through the tools, processes, and culture of the various Eclipse projects. Now is your chance to take that step!
In this Hackathon, we will have committers on hand from several major Eclipse projects. Committers will arrive prepared with a list of simple "help wanted" bugs that you can choose from, or feel free to identify your own bug you want to fix. Since the focus here is on understanding the tools and practices of the projects, the actual bugs being fixed should be simple and straight-forward.
New contributors will pick a project they want to work on, select a bug, and fix it! The committers will be on hand to explain how to get the source code, how to run tests, and how to contribute the change back for review. Where possible, the committer will review the patch immediately and apply the fix to the master code stream. Contributors will leave the Hackathon armed with the knowledge needed to continue making successful contributions to that project in the future.
We hope to see you there! For more information, see the Hackathon wiki page.
