Comparing Popular Eclipse Development Projects and Open Source Community Activity

Bill McQuaide of Black Duck Software will present trends in open source projects and compare these to popular Eclipse projects. Using analysis from Ohloh.net, a free public directory of open source software and developer resources, Bill will review key attributes of popular Eclipse projects (e.g., average committers per project, lines of code per committer, etc.) in the context of the typical life-cycle an open source project follows. In addition, Bill also will discuss attributes of 'mature, well-established projects.' Bill will draw conclusions about the size and activity of these popular Eclipse projects versus industry averages and discuss the projects in the context of industry best practices.
