Enabling Innovation and Industry Collaborations Through Open Source Communities

Session Type:
Standard [35 minutes]

Lots of companies make extensive use of open source technology in their organizations. However, the use of open source technology is just one benefit that open source communities have to offer. The real power of open source is the ability to foster collaborations and drive innovation among organizations and individuals.

The Eclipse Foundation has developed a set of best practices for enabling innovation and collaborations within an industry. Eclipse Industry Working Groups (IWGs) were started two years ago as a mechanism to deliver on these best practices for industry collaborations.

In this presentation, Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation, will discuss the requirements for effective industry collaborations and how Eclipse IWGs can help companies benefit from a more strategic involvement with open source communities.
