This session demonstrates the easy and straightforward usage of well established annotations to develop OSGi components and services. It introduces the open source tooling from the Apache Felix project for creating components based on Declarative Services, Configuration Admin and Metatype.
The best way of learning a new technology is usually by looking at examples and building on top of them. In this session we will develop an OSGi application demonstrating a quick way of adapting OSGi in own applications. This session starts with a brief introduction to the basic concepts of OSGi: bundles and services. It demonstrates the easy and straightforward usage of well established annotations to develop OSGi components and services in combination with the open source tooling from the Apache Felix project. In addition to the annotations and how to use them them, this session will give several tips and tricks based on experience collected of using this approach in large enterprise application development for several years.
