Top 5 Talks: Gunnar Wagenknecht
Gunnar has been a member of the Eclipse Community since its beginning and this is his third time as a member of the EclipseCon Program Committee, his eighth in total. In his primary role at AGETO, he is thrilled to work on open source software, emerging platforms and technologies, and to help companies understand Eclipse and OSGi and execute on their business objectives in an open source context. Gunnar also leads the Gyrex project, the Technology PMC, participate in the RT PMC and the Architecture Council and contributed to a bunch of Eclipse projects (EGit, EclipseLink, Gemini, Equinox, Platform UI, Webtools, PDE).
His Top 5 Talks, in no particular order:
- Modern UIs with JavaFX, OSGi, and e4 and the tooling provided by e(fx)clipse
As a long time SWT and web developer I'm interested in learning about JavaFX and it's possibilities. - Advanced Eclipse 4 Application Platform - not for the weak-hearted
This is a tutorial with great speakers that deep dive into e4. I expect very technical content and recommend all RCP experts to attend this tutorial. - How to become an Eclipse committer and survive
Contains essential information for new and soon-to-be Eclipse committers. - Cloud Formation: Developing real world software, in the cloud with Orion
Orion is great for web developing. Get started in this tutorial. - Marketing an Open Source Project
Being a project lead myself I learned some of the lessons the hard way. Be prepared and learn how to promote your project and build a community around it!

Calling Students to Attend EclipseCon
We want to make it as easy as possible for students to attend EclipseCon and experience a great open source conference. Therefore, we are thrilled to have Google's help by being the EclipseCon Student Sponsor.
Due to Google's sponsorship, there are two ways students can now participate at EclipseCon:
1) We need 15 student volunteers to work during the conference. As a volunteer, you will be asked to help out during the Monday tutorials and act as time keepers during the regular sessions. In exchange, you will get at no cost an all access pass to the 4-day conference.
2) Students can also register as a normal conference attendee. For the first 20 students we have lowered the price to $300 for an all access pass.
To qualify, individuals must be full-time students in a university program.
