Yves YANG

Developing an application in Eclipse always requires a lot of knowledge such as SWT/JFace, Data Binding, Eclipse plugin, EMF and of course the programming language like Java with some new concepts like dependency injection. e4 takes some initiatives to evaluate some new technologies to improve it.

This talk demonstrates the capability of powerful Visual design tools to build an e4 application easily and quickly without requiring extensive programming knowledge. The demo will walk through a simple application development step by step with domain business approach. It introduces:

  • Online business model edition
  • Workbench authoring in e4 Designer
  • Data Form design in XWT Designer

Audience

This talk is intended for domain developersystem architect, executive manager, product manager, graphic designer and SWT developer to get started with e4 application.

Yves YANG, Eclipse committer, has over 18 years of experience working with OO software development and mainly worked on Eclipse and ODBMS: GemStone, Matisse and Versant. He was the chief architect of first Eclipse UML plugin from 2002 to early 2006. He is also the project leader of the eclipse project: ESL, VE and PMF. He is the main contributor of XWT, XWT Designer and e4 Workbench Designer. His activities focus on the Modeling UI and Visual UI Tools.
