The Dash Athena project aims to simplify and accelerate the process of producing headless builds with the Hudson-based build farm growing at Eclipse.org. It can also be used to run headless builds from your own Eclipse workspace, including running UI and non-UI tests, so you can test dangerous or incomplete changes without breaking the build.
This talk will discuss how to get up and running using simple configuration files for what to build (sources), how to build (dependencies), and what to test (JUnit suites), then port that configuration so it can run from Hudson in a continuous way.
It will also discuss how to chain builds together using Hudson in order to create a modular series of builds which depend on each other for input, and how to automate contributing your build to the Helios release train.
Finally, it will discuss some of the features planned for Athena, and how you can help.
There may also be some mention of the living dead.

Nick Boldt is the Productization Lead for JBoss Tools & JBoss Developer Studio.
As a committer for numerous Eclipse projects, he's automated build processes, integrated web & build systems, and designed build tools to simply and streamline building, testing, and releasing project code. He currently leads the Dash Athena project, whose goal is to bring a common build infrastructure to Eclipse and to other open-source PDE-based project build environments. With over 6 years' experience in automated Eclipse PDE builds, he has contributed to the release engineering efforts for GEF, PDT, VE, RSE, and many of the Modeling Project components.
