Oliver Wolf

The Eclipse Swordfish project aims to provide an extensible OSGi-based framework for the development of service-oriented applications. Out of the box, it provides a web service stack to develop web service applications and several message processing features, such as  compression or signing that based on policies can be specified in a declarative manner. It comes into its own when the extension points it provides are used to add functionality, e.g. by integrating it into an enterprise environment with central service registry, security services and management or by adding customer-defined message processing features transparently.

Having been around for some time now, Swordfish is on its way to reaching maturity. Over the last few months, the Swordfish team has spent a fair amount of effort on improving, real-world testing and stabilizing the framework's APIs.

In this session we're going to present the current state of the framework, give an overview on the existing APIs and outline the features to be expected in the upcoming Helios release.

Oliver Wolf works for SOPERA GmbH, an open source SOA product company based out of Bonn, Germany. As SOPERA's Chief Architect, he is responsible for the architecture of SOPERA's SOA runtime platform and co-leads the Eclipse Swordfish project. Prior to joining SOPERA, Oliver held various positions in software architecture and IT security consulting.
