Many tool providers want to migrate their products into Eclipse-based applications. Often, a substantial, if not complete, re-implementation is necessary to fit their existing code into the Java-oriented framework. When AdaCore decided to provide its customers with Ada development tools in Eclipse, we already had an IDE programmed in Ada itself and could not consider losing those years of development. This talk is about how we share the Ada code in our existing IDE with our Eclipse tools for Ada, and more generally, how to interface Java-based applications like Eclipse with existing Ada code beyond the bare facilities of the JNI.
