Usability is one of the strongest features of the Web Tools Platform (WTP) project. One of the main aspects for achieving this is through the usage of wizards.

Examples of wizards in the WTP project are for:

All these wizards are based on a common framework, called DataModelWizard, that extends the wizard framework provided by the Eclipse platform.

This tutorial gives an overview of the DataModelWizard framework. It shows how to create new wizards and extend the existing ones.

The target group of the tutorial are developers who would like to adopt and extend WTP in a way to fit their specific needs for their product.

Kaloyan Raev is a committer in the Eclipse Web Tools Platform project. He is working for SAP Labs Bulgaria, in the SAP NetWeaver division. After years of working on core modules of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, he is now aligning the Java EE toolset of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio with the Eclipse WTP project.
