David Savage
OSGi started out as a technology for building software for embedded devices however it's applicability goes far wider than this as demonstrated by the activities in the OSGi Expert Enterprise Group over the last 18 months.
This talk will review some of the challenges and benefits of taking OSGi out of the device, off of the desktop and into enterprise scale deployments. There will be a review of the problem domain; discussion of applicable patterns; and references to a real world implementation. The talk will be technical in nature with code samples and attendees should ideally have a basic understanding of OSGi.
David graduated from Cardiff University with a 1st Class Honours in Physics, subsequently he went on to become a finalist in the UK's SET awards for his final year thesis on quantum scale electrical conductivity phenomena. Since then he has worked extensively as a designer and developer of software in the telecoms and finance industries focusing mainly on large scale networked infrastructure.
