Integrated Subversion support is the one of the most wanted features for Eclipse users. Such high interest is explained by the currently observed stable popularity growth of Subversion in the world. Many companies and open-source projects already use Subversion as the main version control system; others are planning to switch to Subversion as soon as the next release 1.5 appears, that promises to be the most significant one since this project emerged.
The Subversive project to be discussed during this session is an official project of Eclipse aimed at inclusion of Subversion support into the standard set of Eclipse functionality. Before November 2007, Subversive was developed on polarion.org – a website devoted to open-source tools for Subversion. In November 2007, the Subversive project jointed the Eclipse community as a technology project. The immediate goal of the project is participation in the simultaneous Eclipse Ganymede release.
This session could be of interest for Subversion users who would learn about new features of Subversion/Subversive and about the advantages offered by Subversive.
This session could also be of interest for developers who would learn about integration features provided by Subversive.
