Every software development team has different needs, characteristics, and constraints that must be addressed so the project is successful and a quality product is delivered to customers. Organizations and teams are challenged by the decision of what processes they can use either out-of-the-box or customized to their needs. The Eclipse Process Framework (EPF) project provides agile processes such as OpenUP, Scrum and others for teams to adopt out-of-the-box, where the process content is easily accessible by every team member. If teams want to customize the existing software development processes, or even start creating their own in-house processes, they can do so by using the EPF Composer tool. The EPF project also provides a way for the community to participate in the evolution of the existing processes via a Wiki, where anyone can see the latest published version of the processes and provide on-the-spot feedback to the EPF team. In this talk we will introduce: • the EPF project • the EPF Composer tool for authoring and customizing process • the existing processes available for teams to use • and the ways the community can get involved with the project, such as via the EPF Wiki and others.

Chinh Vo is a Team Lead at IBM Rational in the Rational Enterprise Reporting and Rational Method Composer team. In the past 9 years with IBM Rational, he has been in many roles within product development along with working in the field mentoring and training customers on software best practices.
