A two hour tutorial focused on the development of basic BIRT reports. Attendees will start with the basics and work through the fundamentals involved with creating BIRT reports using the BIRT report designer. The course will describe BIRT development methodology and the tools available to leverage BIRT to create professional report designs. This course represents a great opportunity to get a complete tour of one the most powerful and exciting report development tools available to developers. The presentation will guide them from the ground up to building a small, less than 5 report reporting project based off of the Classic Cars demo database that comes with BIRT. Users who would like to follow along with the demos are encouraged to install BIRT 2.2 All-In-One from the BIRT download site at http://download.eclipse.org/birt/downloads/

John Ward is a consultant for Innovent Solutions, specializing in BIRT and e-commerce search and navigation solutions. Prior to that, John was an Associate Vice President for Citibank North America, managing the training MIS group and overseeing developing of new technology based training initiatives. John actively works with and tests BIRT, an open source Reporting platform built on Eclipse, including development work based on BIRT reports and the BIRT APIs.
