E-learnings have become an essential part of personnel development and employee qualification within an enterprise today. Content authoring aligned with target group needs, distribution, extensibility, updating and tracking of learning progress are indispensible functional requirements when it comes to implementing an efficient learning infrastructure. Add to this the need for user-friendly high-value graphical presentation of learning content which necessitates the use of visualization technologies, such as Adobe Flash.

The Talk will focus on various issues surrounding the Eclipse Rich Client Platform and e-learning: How to integrate Eclipse as a platform for learning content into an e-learning infrastructure. How to include complex Flash applications in Eclipse. We will also present scenarios that illustrate the communication between Eclipse Container and Flash. A short outline of how Eclipse’s OSGi architecture may be used for managing learning content will be provided. We will explore various distribution scenarios for delivering to thousands of clients comprising different user groups. This will bring us to the options available for user provisioning and how all this emphasizes the importance of Eclipse as a platform with user dependent user scenarios.
